The short version
- We only collect what you send us, plus basic stats about how the site is used.
- We use it to reply to you, to send the Journal if you sign up, and to make the site better.
- We don’t sell your information.
- Email noah@nowafilm.com any time to see, fix or delete what we have.
What we collect
- When you contact us: your name, email, the kind of project and your message.
- When you book a call: the details you enter in the booking form, such as your name, email and notes. Cal.com runs the booking and sends the Google Meet invite.
- When you join the Journal: your email, and a record of when and where you signed up and confirmed.
- When you browse: Google Analytics records the pages you view, your rough location (city level), your device and browser, and how you found us. Our hosting and video providers also receive your IP address and device details so they can deliver pages and films.
- To stop spam: short-lived counters made from scrambled (hashed) email and network details, never the details themselves.
How we use it
- To reply to you and plan your project.
- To send the Journal, only after you confirm your email. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To see which pages help people and fix the ones that don’t.
- To keep our forms safe from spam and abuse.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it with anyone so they can market to you.
Who helps us run the site
A few trusted services handle information for us, only to do their part:
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Supabase stores contact messages and Journal signups.
- Resend sends our form notifications and Journal emails.
- Cal.com runs call bookings, with Google Calendar and Google Meet.
- Google Workspace runs our email.
- Google Analytics gives us visit statistics.
- Mux streams our films.
- Adobe Fonts serves the typefaces, and counts page views to license them.
These companies may store information in the United States or other countries, where local laws can allow authorities to access it.
Cookies
Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits, and the Cal.com booking calendar may set its own cookies when you use it. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or turn off Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out add-on.
How long we keep it
- Messages and project details: as long as we need them to work with you and keep business records.
- Journal: until you unsubscribe. Signups that are never confirmed are deleted after 30 days.
- Analytics: up to 14 months.
- Spam counters: deleted as soon as they expire.
Your choices
- Ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing noah@nowafilm.com.
- Leave the Journal any time with the unsubscribe link in any email.
- If you’re not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Keeping it safe
The site and its forms use encrypted connections, and submissions go to a private database only we can open. No system is perfect, so please don’t send passwords or payment details through the forms.
Children
This site is made for businesses and isn’t aimed at children.
